programs :: encore chamber orchestra

The Encore Chamber Orchestra was initiated in the 1993-1994 performance season as a project of Daniel Hege, former Music Director of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras. The Encore Chamber Orchestra program was designed to provide specialized training and performance opportunities to serious career-track musicians and is a thirty-five member ensemble composed of top musicians. Encore repertoire is challenging and includes works rarely performed by other orchestras. The orchestra performs at major Chicago venues including the DePaul University 's Concert Hall, Argonne National Laboratory, Fourth Presbyterian Church in downtown Chicago , the Union League Club of Chicago, and the Adler Planetarium.

Encore flourishes under the guidance of excellent conducting faculty. In addition to working with current Music Director Allen Tinkham, Encore has studied under the baton of the following: Rossen Milanov, Music Director of the Haddonfield Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Conductor of the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra; Ya Hui Wang, Music Director of the Akron Symphony Orchestra; Daniel Hege, Conductor of the Syracuse Symphony and Assistant Conductor of the Baltimore Symphony; and Terrance Oliveras Gray, CYSO's Associate Conductor.
