The CYSO Concert Orchestra has long held an annual concerto competition open to all Concert Orchestra students. The winner(s) receive the opportunity to perform a movement of their concerto with the Concert Orchestra the following season. A panel of prominent judges along with the Concert Orchestra conductor Terrance Oliveras Gray evaluates each performance. The CYSO Concert Orchestra's 2006-2007 Concerto Competition took place on Saturday, February 3, 2007 . The winners (in alphabetical order) were: Teddy Gabrielides , bass, performing Domenico Dragonetti's Concerto in A Major; Alexander Hersh , cello, performing Edouard Lalo's Concerto in d minor; Kathleen Lyons , clarinet, performing Carl Maria von Weber's Concertino in Eb Major; and Nathaniel Ortega , cello, performing Joseph Haydn's Concerto in C Major. Honorable mention was awarded to Justin Ehrman – cello, Karen Gallant – flute and Ryan Zerna – flute.
