programs :: chamber music program

The CHAMBER MUSIC PROGRAM, under the direction of Donald DeRoche, is comprised of members who desire training in the art of small ensemble playing. The ensemble curriculum is comprehensive and includes weekly professional coaching, master classes, and special performance opportunities. In the past, CYSO chamber ensembles have been enjoyed by thousands at the city-sponsored “Taste of Chicago” where they performed in WFMT's Fine Arts Circle area. A number of ensembles have performed on the nationally broadcast series, “From the Top,” won the awards in the Junior Division of the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. In 2002 CYSO's Ivory Winds sextet won the Bronze Medal at Fischoff and became the first wind group ever to advance beyond the quarterfinals.
