audition requirements & eligibility
The 2008-2009 Season Auditions are now closed. Please check back in June for vacancy announcements in each of the CYSO orchestras.
Eligibility
Auditions are open to students who will be high school seniors or younger, with at least two years of experience on their instrument. Candidates audition for CYSO, and not for membership in a specific orchestra.

Audition Requirements
Strings
- 4 minutes of contrasting material from student’s repertoire
- Orchestral excerpts provided by CYSO in advance (Only to be played by students who wish to be considered for the Symphony Orchestra. Excerpts will be mailed after Audition Application is processed)
Winds & Brass
- 4 minutes of contrasting material from student’s repertoire
- Three orchestral excerpts of student’s choice
Percussion
- 4 minutes of contrasting material from student’s repertoire
- Orchestral excerpts for snare, xylophone and timpani
Harp & Piano
- 4 minutes of contrasting material from student’s repertoire
- One orchestral excerpt of student’s choice
