Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras Announces European Tour June 13-24, 2007 to Poland, Czech Republic and Germany and Send-Off Performance at Chicago's Millennium Park, Jay Pritzker PavilionFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: The Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra will commence a 12 day tour of Europe June 13 – 24, 2007. Performances will be held at The Frederick Chopin Conservatory of Music in Warsaw, Poland ; the Filharmonia in Wroclaw, Poland and Smetana Hall in Prague, Czech Republic. As p art of this tour, the Symphony Orchestra has also been selected to be the only youth orchestra presented by Leipzig, Germany 's world-famous Gewandhaus during its musical season. Join the Symphony Orchestra on Monday, June 4, 2007 at 6:30 pm for a special send-off performance at Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Millennium Park Chicago as it prepares to embark on its highly anticipated tour. Enjoy Hindemith's Symphonic Metamorphosis , Barber's Second Essay, as well as works by Beethoven and contemporary composer Michael Daugherty. This concert is free and open to the public. Led by CYSO Music Director, Allen Tinkham, the Symphony Orchestra is an internationally recognized orchestra consisting of the most advanced high school-age musicians from the Chicago area. The orchestra performs annually at Symphony Center 's Orchestra Hall, and participates in educational programs and collaborations with other cultural arts organizations including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Sinfonietta, and the Ravinia Festival. Membership also includes intensive professional-level coaching by members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera, and other noted musicians and teachers.
