Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras (CYSO) Announces Performance at Northeastern Illinois University, Performance Hall

The CYSO Debut Orchestra and Preparatory Strings will be performing at Northeastern Illinois University, Fine Arts Center Auditorium on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. under the direction of conductors, Terrance Oliveras Gray and Dan iella Valdez. The concert is free and open to the public.

Led by Associate Conductor Terrance Oliveras Gray, the DEBUT ORCHESTRA is the intermediate level orchestra of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras comprised of students in the 4 th through 9 th grades. The schedule includes weekly rehearsals, sectionals, and several concerts at major Chicago venues. The Debut Orchestra also participates in the Civic Orchestra's innovative mentoring program, MusiCorps sm, which includes several visits by Civic Orchestra members who coach sectionals and sit in on full rehearsals.

The PREPARATORY STRINGS is the beginning-level string program of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras. Weekly rehearsals focus on technique, ensemble performance skills, basic string repertoire, and required beginning-level theory. Preparatory Strings students have the opportunity to perform as a string orchestra within an encouraging environment. Led by Conductor Dan iella Valdez, the program is open to string musicians who have played their instrument for at least two years and have basic music reading skills.
