My Morning Jacket to perform with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra at this year's Lollapalooza

On August 5 th, My Morning Jacket will perform with one of America's premiere youth orchestras at one the country's largest music festivals. In the spirit of their monumental collaboration with the Boston Pops, My Morning Jacket will bring classical to the masses at this year's Lollapalooza festival in Grant's Park, Chicago. My Morning Jacket's signature angelic, echoing vocals and transcendental melodies will be bolstered by a collection of Chicago's most gifted young musicians.

The Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras was founded 60 years ago to illuminate the embryonic talent of the greater Chicago area's young musicians. The orchestra enlists the world's most respected professional musicians to teach orchestral and chamber music to students between the ages of 7 and 18, and draws audiences of up to 40,000. In November of last year, My Morning Jacket played with the CYSO at The Riviera in Chicago.

Of the festival, vocalist Jim James says, “The Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra! It is hard to even think of them as “youth.” Their playing is so “grown-up” and professional.
