Welcome Back

WELCOME BACK STUDENTS AND FRIENDS

Greetings from the CYSO!

I know that you are looking forward to the 2007-2008 season as much as we are. This weekend we welcome back record numbers of extremely talented students in each of our four core orchestras. As these bright young musicians walk through out doors for their first rehearsal they will be introduced to new and exciting repertoire including Daron Hagen's Orpheus and Eurydice for Piano Trio, and works by Barber, Berlioz, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Strauss and Vivaldi. I hope that you, our family and friends, will join us for CYSO's many exciting concerts this season.

Our season begins with two very exciting performance collaborations held at the Chicago Cultural Center . CYSO will join with many renowned local musicians for John Cage's Musicircus, an all day celebration of music presented by the Chicago Composers Forum. The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs will also present the Encore Chamber Orchestra on their Family Classics, Sunday Salon Series, where they will perform Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf , and Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra .

With the change in season, the CYSO embarks on another new year of providing the highest quality music training, education and community engagement programs for students in the Chicago metropolitan area. I hope to see you all at some of our exemplary performances throughout the season.

All best,

Holly
