Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras (CYSO) Announces Spring Orchestra Hall Concert: Invigorating Tradition

Internationally recognized for producing the next generation of musicians, the CYSO Symphony Orchestra and Concert Orchestra will present works by Mussorgsky, Liszt, Bach, and Shostakovich on Saturday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Symphony Center .

Under the guidance of Music Director, Allen Tinkham the Symphony Orchestra is Chicagoland's premier youth orchestra offering exceptional performance opportunities and intensive coaching from many of the area's leading professional musicians, including members of the CSO, Lyric Opera and local universities. Its annual season includes a fall and spring concert in Orchestra Hall, performances in various Chicagoland venues and education concerts.

In addition, in December 2005 the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO) was the only Illinois orchestra to perform at the 59 th annual Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago and will be performing in 2007 as the only orchestra of its kind at Leipzig 's world-famous Gewandhaus, as part of the venue's season. The Concert Orchestra is a 90+ member full orchestra which provides students with a similar high-level introduction to advanced orchestral playing and is conducted by Associate Conductor Terrance Gray.

The program will feature: Mussorgsky (arr. Rimsky-Korsakov): Night on Bald Mountain , Liszt: Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 in D minor, Bach (arr. Stokowski ): Toccata and Fugue in D minor, Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5
