Internationally renowned for producing the next generation of musicians, the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO) will be performing works by Liszt, Bach, and Shostakovich under the direction of Allen Tinkham on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Petronille Church in Glen Ellyn .

The Symphony Orchestra is Chicagoland's premier youth orchestra offering exceptional performance opportunities and intensive coaching from many of the area's leading professional musicians, including members of the CSO, Lyric Opera and local universities. The annual season includes a fall and spring concert in Orchestra Hall, runout concerts in various Chicago suburbs and education concerts. In addition to these performances, in December 2005 the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO) was the only Illinois orchestra to perform at the 59 th annual Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago .

About the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras:

Founded in 1946, the Chicago Youth Sy mp hony Orchestras is a diverse family of musical programs designed to provide outstanding music opportunities and resources to all Chicagoland youth. CYSO directly serves more than 350 musicians ages 7 to 18, over 5,000 Chicagoland public school students, and over 40,000 audience members each season.

Named the “2004 Youth Orchestra of the Year” by the Illinois Council of Orchestras and awarded the First Place 2005 ASCAP award for Adventurous Programming, CYSO has achieved international recognition for its excellence and innovation, while gaining a reputation for producing the next generation of professional musicians.
