In its inaugural year, the Debut Orchestra is comprised of over 60 talented youths from the greater Chicago area. As members of the Debut Orchestra the students gain special training from the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, MusicCorps sm program. Civic Orchestra of Chicago Conductor, Cliff Colnot has this to say about his experience with the orchestras, "A very high level of musical intelligence, group and individual discipline, prideful confidence, a selfless approach to the music and an ever-increasing uniformity of sound and style--these are the special reasons why I find working with the CYSO a privilege and an absolute joy."

The Preparatory Strings program will amaze audiences with the talent of these young musicians. Ranging in age from 7 to 10 this group represents the very youngest of the CYSO family of musicians. The Preparatory Strings students are also under the direction of Terrance Gray, associate conductor.
