When you hear the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras you Listen to the Future tm. As part of their 60 th Anniversary Season the internationally renowned Symphony Orchestra will perform in Schererville, Indiana at Redar Park on Saturday, August 12, 2006.

Under the guidance of Stephen Burns, Artistic Director of Fulcrum Point, the Symphony Orchestra is Chicagoland's premier youth orchestra offering exceptional performance opportunities and intensive coaching from many of the Midwest 's leading professional musicians, including members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera and local universities. Its annual season includes a fall and spring concert in Orchestra Hall, performances in various Chicagoland venues and education concerts.

The program will feature: Mozart, Magic Flute Overture; Marquez, Danzon No.4; Rossini, Barber of Seville; Juan Crisostimo Arriaga, Los esclavos felices ; Manuel de Falla, El amor brujo ; Georges Bizet, Carmen Suite No.1; Piazzolla, La Mufa. The concert will be approximately 90 minutes with a 15 minute intermission.

About the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras (CYSO):

The CYSO is a diverse family of musical programs designed to provide outstanding music opportunities and resources to all Chicagoland youth; directly serving more than 350 musicians ages 7 to 18, over 5,000 Chicagoland public school students, and over 40,000 audience members each season. 100% of CYSO graduating seniors attend college, 75% of which pursue musical studies.

Named the “2004 Youth Orchestra of the Year” by the Illinois Council of Orchestras and awarded six the ASCAP awards for Adventurous Programming, CYSO has achieved international recognition for its excellence and innovation, while gaining a reputation for producing the next generation of professional musicians.
