alumni newsNovember 2007 Noah Geller, CYSO Alumni, joins the first violins of The Philidelphia Orchestra in January. He performed with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and as concertmaster or principal positions with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Juilliard Orchestra, and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra. July 2007 New England Conservatory has announced the appointments of THOMAS NOVAK (CYSO Alumni) as dean of the college and HILARY FIELD as head of operations and institutional planning; both are newly created positions. Novak, a bassoonist with a master's degree from Yale University and a bachelor's degree and performer's certificate from the Eastman School of Music, has served on NEC's administrative staff since 2001, most recently as director of admissions and financial aid and assistant provost. Field joined NEC for the fourth time in 2006, when she stepped down as chief operating officer of the Handel & Haydn Society to become special assistant to NEC Interim CEO and President Emeritus Laurence Lesser. Prior to Handel & Haydn she had spent four years as director of artistic and management services at the American Symphony Orchestra League. Trained in clarinet performance, she holds a master's degree from the University of Michigan and a bachelor's from NEC. Clarinetist Anthony McGill was surrounded by superb musicians, a cast of stars, as the Music@Menlo chamber music festival ended Friday. Rossen Milanov, former CYSO Music Director 1997-2001, appointed Artistic Director of The Philadelphia Orchestra at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts. Claudine Cappelle-Harig, Class of 1993 Harpist, performed as guest art ist of the Milwaukee Festival City Symphony Brandon J. Eubank, Class of 2004 Trumpet, Associate Member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago for the 2005-2006 season. Gina Guhl, Class of 2002 Clarinet, won the audition for 'The President's Own,' United States Marine Corps Band in Washington, DC.
