Audition Form

CYSO offers the best performance opportunities available anywhere to young musicians. Ensembles perform in world class venues throughout Chicago around the world through its international touring program. Whether on stage at Orchestra Hall or in front of 80,000 screaming My Morning Jacket fans at Lollapalooza, CYSO musicians appear on some of the best stages in the world.

Season Calendar

CYSO musicians experience superb orchestral and chamber music instruction from Chicago’s most respected professional musicians, perform in the world’s greatest concert halls and gain the self-confidence and discipline necessary for a successful future.

Notably, 100% of CYSO students pursue college studies, with approximately 75% of each year’s graduating class pursuing music degrees either at a university or at some of the nation’s finest conservatories. Many students also go on to become music professionals and win positions in the top orchestras in the nation.

Most importantly, whether or not CYSO students continue their music studies after graduating, they leave with a strong sense of discipline, accomplishment, confidence, self-esteem, and a deep appreciation for music and the arts.

In the Community

CYSO musicians are offered unparalleled experiences and opportunities rarely available to young musicians. They perform in many of the best concert halls in Chicago and throughout the World. Ensembles have toured internationally to Europe, Asia, and in 2009, Argentina and Uruguay. CYSO students regularly appear on Public Radio International’s From The Top and WFMT’s Introductions. CYSO was also the first classical music ensemble to play at Lollapalooza, one of the greatest music festivals of all time, with the rock band My Morning Jacket.

Masterclass Series

CYSO musicians go on to perform in the world’s finest orchestras and music ensembles. They are found as teachers in conservatories and universities across the United States and abroad. Others go on to become community leaders, doctors, lawyers, business professionals and entrepreneurs. The CYSO experience gives students from all backgrounds the skills to succeed in whatever their future holds.
