As a hopeful violinist, I have encountered many orchestras and ensembles from the junior high to professional level. I would have to say that the hard work that comes with being a member of Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras has given me priceless experience and appreciation for orchestral performance. During my time in CYSO’s Concert Orchestra, I have played in many places such as Mandel Hall, the Chicago Cultural Center, and of course Orchestra Hall. Having a conductor with such spontaneity and drive, like Terrance Oliveras Gray, has helped me develop my dream to one day I would become a successful professional musician. Combining youthful musicians that share the same dream produces a plethora of great achievement.
As a violinist in the making CYSO has helped me improve on my instrument and as a musician. Through our countless rehearsals, guest conductors, and performances both orchestral and in smaller ensembles, Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras is appreciated all over the world. Most of all, this experience has given me the opportunity to become the musician I am today and the one I will be in the future.
