Hi! I’m
Kathryn, an Operations Assistant here at Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, and
I’d like to welcome you to the new CYSO blog!
As you
can see, it’s been a little while since our last update, but that doesn’t mean
we’ve just been sitting around sight reading through Beethoven (even though
that’s a great way to spend some
time). We’ve been up to some awesome stuff and every week I’ll keep you up to
speed, so keep coming back to hang out with us here at cyso.org.
What
will you see on your return visits? Not only are we going to let you have an
inside peek into what’s happening with CYSO, but we hope to become a valuable
resource for you. If you’re a student you will be able to use the blog to stay
connected with articles, videos, or interviews that we believe will help you as
you grow in your artistic development. If you are one of our many alumni, we
want you to use this space to stay connected with us and to help us stay
connected with you. If you are involved in music on any level, or just an appreciator,
we hope this blog will enrich your perspective on what young musicians are up
to these days – “classical” music is far from “dying,” as you’ll see.
Also, we’re
all about encouraging a larger community conversation, so be sure to leave
comments! No orchestra is an island! (Though, we wouldn’t mind going to an island right about
now...it’s coldcoldcoldcoldcoldcoldcold
in Chicagoland and I still haven’t figured out a way to only walk the
North/South streets to avoid the blast of cold air off Lake Michigan on streets
facing East/West...anyone have tips?)
See you
again soon!
Kathryn
