On June 20th, CYSO's Encore Chamber Orchestra gave a concert at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. It was a near perfect Sunday afternoon - for the first time in a few years it didn't rain! Thanks to the ideal picnic conditions, nearly 3,000 people stopped by to hear the concert.

The "Latin inspired" program was really outstanding, if I do say so myself. Check out this line-up:

Pataruco was written for Ed Harrison, Principal Percussionist of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Mr. Harrison joined CYSO for the Pavilion concert, and pretty much rocked the house (the proof is in the picture -  last one below), especially in the cadenza.
Speaking of programming, CYSO was honored for the 9th time by ASCAP, receiving a 1st place Adventurous Programming Award in the youth orchestra division. Not a bad way to end the 2009-2010 season!

By the way, if you have a Facebook account and would like to see more pictures of the Millennium Park concert, as well as keep up with the awesome goings-on of CYSO, then you should click on over and "Like" our Facebook group. I mean, if you like us in real life, why not "Like" us in virtual reality, too? Right?
