Congratulations are in order for the students and coaches who made our recent showing at the Rembrandt Chamber Music Competition a big success!
Twenty-six groups from the greater Chicago area entered the competition, with nine representing CYSO. First prize went to CYSO’s S*M*A*K string quartet (Kevin Hu, Michael Rau, Stephanie Block and Ava Tan; Stephen Balderston, coach). Second prize went to the CYSO brass quintet, Da Brass (Daniel Taubenheim, Caleb Wiebe, Alex Laskey, Kathleen DeAmico and Spencer Brown; Scott Tegge, coach). An Honorable Mention went to the CYSO woodwind quintet, Metal ‘n Wood (Ryan Zerna, Olivia Peterson, Allison Schafernak, Kayla Lee and Daniel Brottman; Yoo-Jin Hong, coach).
The entire CYSO contingent was strong and we send them all our congratulations for a job well done!
