Hanah Stuart (CYSO member from 2003-2006), a third year Violin Performance major at The Juilliard School in New York, has been selected for the first international “YouTube Symphony Orchestra.” The Orchestra will be debuting in New York City at Carnegie Hall on April 15, 2009.divx movies

More than 90 musicians selected from 30 countries will comprise the Orchestra. Miss Stuart was selected from over 3,000 video “auditions” submitted by amateur and professional musicians from more than 70 countries. Musicians from professional orchestras including the London and San Francisco Symphonies and the Berlin, Hong Kong and New York Philharmonic Orchestras picked 200 finalists. The winners were then selected by voters on YouTube.

The selected musicians, ranging in ages from 17-55 years old, will participate in three days of master classes and rehearsals culminating in an April 15 concert at Carnegie Hall. The Orchestra will be conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas, the San Francisco Symphony’s Music Director. They will perform composer Tan Dun’s “Internet Symphony No. 1 Eroica”.
